"Rufus Edge.. minerals?" A look brief look of barely contained contempt flickers across Macro's gnarled and weather beaten features. "Perhaps, I best educate you before your ignorance gets you, or worse yet, me, killed." Hox gives a quick glance at the gathered and now presumably press ganged acolytes to ensure they're paying attention, every inch the stern schola tutor you may or may not have run into in your past... this is not an endearing quality.
"The Edge Syndicate are the most dangerous, violent and cruel cartel in the Faceless Trade. They kill with impunity and woe betide the fools that face them. They don't operate like a normal criminal group... they make loud bloody statements to their rivals in the underworld seemingly without reason. That is what we're being blackmailed into, so I suggest that each of you keeps their mouths firmly shut about this outside of this... cell." Satisfied he has said enough, Macro leans with his back against the wall hoping that his words will sink in quickly.

Elias Reigner stayed silent for a while. As man used to serve and obey the hierarchies of the Empire, from his own little backwater world to his modern task as an arbitrator agent, he understood that this would be, for as long as the Inquisitor would need it, his new task. His smile disappeared slowly, while he understood that he would have to work with those present in the room.
There were wretches or criminals in here, but if the Inquisitor had made it his choice to recruit them, they must had some worth.
"My name is Sire Elias Reigner, but just Elias will be allright, since we will have to be colleagues, it seem. Let's state things clearly. My duty is to the Emperor dans Him alone and the Inquisitor is His proxy in our world. If he sees you fit for this team, it is that He has chosen us. For the moment on, for those that think that my role as a member of the Law Enforcement of the Empire will be a problem for them, I'll consider that we have a fresh start and we will work on from where we are. We all have our specialties, and as long as they are used solely in the Imperium's interest, I will be on your side and loyal to you, that's an oath I pledge now and forever, as long as you don't break it in my eyes and His judgement"
(Opposed charm test, just to let them perceive the importance of such an oath and the respect that Elias will put into it)
As everyone can understand, talking isn't a problem for the Arbitrator, and acting decisively isn't either.

Post by Arc/Azararch Morgan Geiss on Feb 28, 2016 15:44:58 GMT
After considering the situation at hand and containing a mild panic over most likely giving the details about his background, Azararch came to a conclusion that it will be for the better to open up and entrust the strangers with his life and identity. Arbitrator's speech, while not very impressive, helped to alleviate some of the concerns of the psyker, and after Elias and Caro finished their conversation, Azararch started:
'Fellow'... Geiss started as he tried to come up with a word for the people he will have to work with, 'companions, I propose that the rest of us introduce themselves to each other to help us determine our capabilities as a group and as individuals. Does anyone want to be the first?'

In this case, I'd rather stick to command than to charm, as authority is the most important factor.
Command (Fel31 -20improvised +10 (general difficulty) +10 as you are an Arbitrator +10 for your well done speech): rolled 62 --> 3 DoF --> not really able to impress them

"Education is my passion, dear Hox. Mere thought can disband any army while pure brute force would merely stop them. The things you say prove you know a lot about Edge Syndicate compared to rumors I remember. Despite this, further research is needed about them. If all are true, then we should choose the right side and get to play them our game, craft our trump cards. If the artifact is very important to them, we must determine how much." calmly talked Caro, though he felt some intimidation level.
"I am more than fine with you, Sire Elias Reigner. Whatever I do is for He Who Sits. Though, the work we are told to do may require, unorthodox approaches, which may not be sanctified by law. " answers to Elias with careful tone after Azararch suggestion.

Macro seems grudgingly appeased with Caro's response, the mere imperceptible whisper of a ghost of a half smile flits around the corner of one side of his mouth. Or was it just a creepy leathery faced twitch...

A little insecure voice from Azararch gave Caro some courage an thoughts. Maybe siding with him for Caro would be best.
" Very well stated, dear companion. I will expand my profile for you. " and coughed a little to fix his voice "Caro Omnis, a chirurgeon, ad. mechanicus researcher from Port Aquila. "

"I was a Knight from Castellia, then inducted in the Arbites, then the Inquisition, as it seems" said Elias without interest. His past deeds where important to him, but were not what was needed at the moment. "I'll try to be a moral compass when it comes to unorthodoxy, but I understand very well the limits of the law, and the law that is the Inquisition in itself"
He adjusted his armour, still not used to the modern equipment as he was with his full plate many years ago, but he still seemed to be at ease while wearing the heavy protection.
ORP: Isn't a charm test opposed? So normally, characters should have to roll against and if they've got more degrees of failure than I, my check will still be okay for some, no?

Macro mutters under his breath at the suggestion of providing more personal information but eventually seems to give in "Macro Hox, but Hox to you lot. I reckon the fact that I'm here tells you enough about me."
After an awkward pause, and to Macro's annoyance a few wry looks, he gave in further with a placating and dismissive wave of his hands "Fine, fine. I find people, bastards mostly."

Annabelle observed the servo skull as it entered the room, and spoke for their Inquisitor. It didn’t surprise her in the least that the Inquisitor wouldn’t come in person. That was expected. And it wouldn’t be the first time she’d been given a job without seeing her patrons face. The woman remained unhappy about the situation she had landed herself in, but at this point there was nothing for it, but to get up and do the job she was assigned. The skull spoke to them on the deal they were to make, under the name of the “Son’s of Keats”.... Annabelle pondered for a moment, to see if she knew anything about that name. The next name also seemed important. The Edge Syndicate... Annabelle closed her eyes for a moment in thought as she tried to recall any information she might know about the Syndicate.
(Attempting a Common Lore: Underworld test for Annabelle, regarding the Sons of Keats and the Edge Syndicate).
The Tears of Kalys, though, was something Annabelle was sure she’d never heard of. Xenos artifacts weren’t really her thing. Hell, even Xenos weren’t really her thing. Oh well. Perhaps one of her new compatriots would know something about that. The servo skull gave out the remainder of the details, and then went silent.
Speaking of her new compatriots.... the Chirurgeon was already suggesting they begin sharing information. Certainly darling. Annabelle thought, as she looked at him. You first~
Another man had hastened into the room, who called himself Hox. Annabelle looked him over closely as well . She could make out a shotgun beneath his ragged robes and the hints of what looked like carapace armor. He added a statement that they had no choice in this matter. Annabelle sighed. ”That seems to be the case dear. Thank you for joining us~” She said to Hox, giving him her most winsome smile. Even if she was unhappy with the arrangements, she decided she may as well run with it.
(Attempting a charm test on Hox. Annabelle has charm+10, Fel: 43)
Caro and Hox briefly got into an argument regarding the Edge Syndicate, prompting Annabelle to further rack her memory regarding them. A tie-breaker as it might be. Afterall. If one of them was wrong... well. As Hox said. That could be disastrous for them.
Now the last of the group spoke up. Elias Reigner spoke up. Or at least he called himself Elias Reigner. He let on some big speech about the Emperor, the Inquisitor, and how apparently he was willing to overlook past transgressions in their legal past. Annabelle gave him a little smile, but did not immediately respond. The man seemed full of a bit of bluster, but didn’t seem a bad sort to be working with. Unusually flexible for an Arbitrator if his words were to be believed.
Then there were introductions. The Chirurgeon—whom Annabelle now knew as Caro Omnis from the Adeptus Mechanicus, and Elias Reigner, a former knight? Annabelle briefly withheld a chuckle from herself, when Elias proposed that he serve as a moral compass for the group. ”We could hardly act for a better moral compass, dear Elias.” She stated, with her stepford smile. ”The laws must be upheld afterall~” (If a deceive test is required here I suppose it should be taken). The last of the group seemed to be an investigator of some kind. Mr. Hox. Someone who specialized in finding people? Yes, Annabelle expected she might get along with him better than initially expected.
(Will hold off on Annabelle’s introduction until I know the results of her Common Lore and Charm test, respectively).

That was it! Yes, now Annabelle recalled the information about the Edge Syndicate. They were... oh dear. Certainly not someone Annabelle was keen on getting on the bad side of. Ah well. Introductions were in order. "My name is Annabelle." She told the group. "But you're welcome to call me Anna for short. It's what my friends do. And I expect I'll have to become good friends with all of you for the next twenty two days. Maybe longer." She began. "I hope you'll excuse my apparel. I'm sure you understand, that when you receive a call from an Inquisitor, there's not much time to pack your bags." She smiled. "I'm afraid I'm no arbitrator or member of the Imperial Guard, sorry to disappoint you." She stated. "But I have spent some time developing a certain set of skills that make me rather good at... silencing individuals. Covertly and discretely~" An assassin. Assassin and saboteur.
She glanced at Hox. "You seem familiar with the Edge Syndicate. That's good to hear. Then you know that it would be a good idea not to upset them while we're making this deal. I don't think I'd enjoy having that group upset with us."

As ussual. The smell of mistrust in the air was standing like a rotting heretic at sewers where no wind blows. Those here seem tough nuts to crack. Oh! the pleasure to interrogate all secrets of people, lingered his mind. Thanks to arbiter in this group, Caro could serve as his interrogator. But the clock is ticking and as a chirurgeon he knows - every life second matters.
Caro expectorated in order to break icy silence: "Dear kolleagues, vhen time pusches, efery second fur vounded patient matters, so I am nicht fond on vaistingkt time, lifes undt mein r-r-reputation. Lets agree, zat ve vere schaped by past undt now ve vere karefully khosen by Inqfisitor undt only future matters."
Strangelly the voice became with an accent (out of game, german like) and sounded serious.
"Glad to hear more uff us know about zose Edges" Then Caro Glanced with polite nod and smile to Annabelle. "Silent but deadly, zey say. Already likable you seem"

"If they are to be upset, they will. I don't care about the humors of miscreants and traitors" said Reigner with conviction. "But we will start with accomplishing our goals. Then we'll decide the fates of those that our paths" He was straightforward as a man of honor could be asked for. He had learnt a few things in his own past about criminal organisations himself and knew that none of them were to be crossed without being ready to hit hard, and first. He wondered about that famous syndicate (myself an underworld test about those scums), to remember if there was anything in his previous briefings about them. "Enchanté, Anna" he said with a smile when she presented herself. He knew quite frankly that she wasn't the kind of people to uphold the laws, even is she was hypocrite enough to tell him the opposite. He would not antagonise her when they would all appreciate her skills in the days to come. After that, if the Inquisitor decides to keep them as agents, then she will be the law as he is and he won't have anything to say about it. He was perplexed by this notion of anyone being recruited by a man of such power and authority as the Inquisitor, but now that was done, he was in no place to question him. EDIT: What the heck is that smiley, I didn't put it there and I can't erase it, when I try, it erase the rest of the text.
